World Poverty Day 2018

October 17, 2018

October 17th is celebrated as poverty eradication day around the world but even in this 21st century one of the biggest predicament the world faces is poverty! Despite major advancements in science and technology, we have yet to solve the issue of poverty in the world. In America, we enjoy the benefit of progress but countries on the other side of the world still fight to put three meals on the table every day.

In developing countries like India, the burdens of poverty are harder to bear. In rural parts of India, poverty remains prevalent and is often uncontrolled compared to the rest of the country. High rates of poverty play a large role in issues that children face in India such as forced child labor, malnourishment, diseases, and stolen opportunities for education which forces a whole generation into illiteracy and poor living conditions.

Love One More has always tried to imbibe the words of our savior and have saved thousands of children from the hands of poverty by providing them with education and a loving home. We believe the best way to break the cycle of poverty is to start with children. Providing vulnerable children with an education is one of the most effective ways to bring an end to this vicious cycle of poverty that shifts from one generation to another. By providing children in need with education, food, and a home, Love One More effectively helps prevent child labor, child marriage, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. There are millions of vulnerable children suffering in silence due to poverty—it is never too late to help them. You can donate money or even take up sponsorship of a child through Love One More. As the Bible says,

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—when you already have it with you.

  — Proverbs 3:27-28
