Prayer places us in the position of reliance on God, reminds us of His promises, and acknowledges His definitive power in our life.
In scripture God says, “call on me in the day of trouble” (Psalm 50:15, NIV) and the Bible exhorts us: “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6, NIV).
Prayer for many is a way of communicating to God, for others it’s a way of quiet time for peace and calming and for others it is the last minute resort at the times of trouble. But prayer really should be the source and foundation of all of our efforts. Nevertheless how and when we pray we all recognize that there is immense power in prayers and a NEED to present our requests to the Lord. In the deepest, darkest moments, we try to take refuge in the kindness of our heavenly Father, in the power of prayer. Sometimes it is a ‘help me’ and other times a ‘thank you.’ Whatever it may be, the intimate connection and communication we with our Creator will always leave an everlasting change in our hearts, emotions and spirit.
If we’re honest, most of the time our prayers are self centered and revolve around ourselves, family and close loved ones. But what if we pray for the good of the world? For people we may never meet? For countries we may never visit? For issues we may never face?
Would you be willing to pray for such things?
One of the key elements that holds Love One More together is prayer, and this is most powerful gift we can give children in India.
So we’ve put together a prayer campaign to pray for children we may never meet, but want the very best for because we know that the Lord hears us and wants to meet their needs. How it works: You will receive one email once a week, with a specific prayer request to pray for. It’s that simple! Each week we will be praying for children in our children’s homes, campaigns, those exploited and living in poverty, staff leaders, house parents and more.
Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.
You can start by praying this prayer below:
Dear Jesus- we come before you knowing that you are the Maker and Creator of all things and know exactly our needs and the needs of vulnerable children around the world. We pray right now specifically for children living in poverty in India who suffer from issues we may never face. We ask you to allow them to feel your presence and peace. We ask you to intervene in uncomfortable issues they face and raise them out of poverty in Jesus name. Protect them and guide them that they may live out a joyful and fulfilling childhood. In Jesus name, amen!
