Our Work: More Than Child Sponsorship

February 7, 2020

When you think Love One More… what do you think of? If you said child sponsorship, you would be correct! But is that all that Love One More does? No! Love One More is so much more than child sponsorship. Of course the effects of child sponsorship are incredible. It permeates the entirety of a child’s life, their family’s life, and the lives of the people living in their village. However, Love One More has seen other needs that must be met.

Here is a list of other ways Love One More is caring for children, and how you can be a part of loving one more!

One focus of Love One More is creating safe spaces for children. These safe spaces help educate and protect children, and prevent the sexual abuse crisis in India. This crisis covers many different areas: child marriage, child trafficking, and different forms of abuse like inappropriate touching, rape, etc.

In India, stringent laws are in place to protect children and prevent abuse, but because of social and cultural norms, the injustices against the children in India continue to increase and go unchecked. Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Love One More speaks for the children who are victims of this crisis and against the perpetrators, cultural practices, and prejudices. We creates spaces where children are taught and encouraged to speak up for themselves without being threatened, afraid, or confused.

By praying, spreading awareness, and giving towards our safe spaces for children, you are bringing lasting change to children across India. You become an active participant in seeking justice for the poor and afflicted.

Love One More also cares for the children born with any kind of disability. There is not enough awareness, access, skills or resources to care for children with special needs in India. Love One More has taken it upon ourselves to help the children and families affected by disability.

There are over 580,000 children under six years old who are autistic and affected with cerebral palsy in India. Also, 10-12% of the total population of children have a learning disability (Source: Times of India Daily). An estimated 30 million children are known to have dyslexia. A recent survey says that, in India, every classroom has two or three children with learning disabilities.

To care for these children, Love One More established our Children’s Wellness Center in 2017. This center is one-of-a kind, providing therapeutic intervention, community based rehabilitation and support to families and their children all under one roof.

While we do not offer sponsorships of children in the Children’s Wellness Center (yet!), you can still give to help children with disabilities, as well as pray for them and their doctors and caretakers.

Our Children’s Gospel Clubs (CGCs) combine the best of Vacation Bible School and Sunday School together, forming a discipleship program that meets weekly for an entire year! Children who attend a CGC will learn about Jesus and be encouraged to share Him with their families and friends.

In 2019, there were 1 million children that participated in CGCs! In 2020 the number will only increase. Please consider giving towards these clubs, as they impact the children in villages across India, as well as their families.

$1 sends 1 child to CGCs for an entire year. You can also pray for the children in India, that the CGCs would bring God’s Word to every single village in India; that all the children will have clean water to drink, food to eat, and medicine when they are sick; and for all the families in India would worship Him as the one true God.

Love One More is so much more than child sponsorship. It is an all-encompassing organization that seeks to share Jesus to children in need, and to love one more like Jesus does!
