Meet the Love One More team!

August 9, 2019

Our Love One More office has undergone some changes! In April 2019, Love One More welcomed a new Child Sponsorship Coordinator, Hannah Murrey. Caitlin McCallum, the previous coordinator, faithfully serves as the Child Sponsorship Assistant.

The Child Sponsorship department at Love One More oversees all correspondence between sponsors and sponsored children. This department also shares updates from India on Love One More’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

In order to get to know McCallum and Murrey better, they answered a couple of questions about Love One More, their relationship with Jesus and what their interests are. Please continue reading to learn more about the Child Sponsorship Department at Love One More!

How did you learn about Love One More?

McCallum: I heard about Love One More through the parent organization of India Gospel League. A member of the church I attend works at the United States office. In 2012, she looked for volunteers to help with an event being held. As a volunteer, I manned the table that had profiles of children who were available for sponsorship. It was at that moment that I decided to begin sponsoring a child through Love One More.

Murrey: I also heard about Love One More through India Gospel League (IGL). The church I attend is very involved with IGL. So it was no surprise when Sam Stephens, the president of IGL, and Becky Stanley, the director of Love One More, came to speak with our church about the important work they are carrying out. Hearing about the work that God is doing in India inspired me to learn more about this impactful organization, and eventually sponsor the cutest little girl!

Why are you passionate about Love One More?

McCallum: I had the opportunity to travel to India. There, I met some of the children who are cared for through Love One More. I realized that Love One More genuinely changes the lives of the children who are part of this ministry. I heard incredible testimonies of how these children were given opportunities that they would otherwise never have. I saw the joy on their faces as they described what it was like to be under the care of Love One More. It is hard not to become passionate about an organization that obviously has a tremendous impact!

Murrey: My aunt grew up in the Philippines because her parents were missionaries. Hearing her stories and answers to my questions gave me a passion for missions. After I graduated college, a position opened up at Love One More as the Child Sponsorship Coordinator. Throughout my time working for Love One More, I have been inspired by the stories of children taking steps of faith to share Jesus with their family and friends. This ministry continues to grow through the love and work of Jesus Christ, despite the hardships that continually rise up against them in India.

How did you come into a relationship with Jesus?

McCallum: I grew up going to church, but never considered what the gospel meant personally for me. I believed in God and read some of the Bible, but I did not care to understand what it meant for my life. When I was nineteen years old, I went to a Bible study where I learned that Jesus’ death on the cross was not just a tragic incident, but it was part of God’s plan to bring us into a relationship with Him! All we need to do is ask. I wrestled with this truth for a few months because I did not consider myself someone who was in need of forgiveness. After all, I thought I was a very good person. After thinking it over again and considering what the Bible presented about sin and my need for forgiveness, I decided to come into a relationship with Christ. It was the single best decision I ever made!

Murrey: I grew up in a Christian home and I went to church regularly. I made the first step of receiving Jesus into my heart at a young age. I understood I was imperfect, a sinner and in need of grace. However in middle school, I did not feel the joy that is talked about so much in the Bible. The problem was I had not made a decision to act on my relationship with God, to walk with Jesus. Colossians 2:6-7 says, “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” I realized the only way to have real joy is to give up my works and truly live out God’s free gift of salvation. My relationship with Him has given me more joy than I ever imagined; it has given me freedom from sin, and a purpose in my life.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

McCallum: In my free time I like to read, spend time with friends and family, and walk my dog. There are so many beautiful trails where I live! I also like to study the Bible and teach others about it. Recently I have become a new mom, so in my free time I get the opportunity to care for my daughter!

Murrey: In my free time I love to read and watch TV and movies. Additionally, in my free time I like to craft and take old, beat-up furniture and transform it into something usable and beautiful. But mostly, I hang out with my friends. One of my favorite activities is to get breakfast with friends and get to know them on a deeper level! Like Caitlin, I also enjoy learning more about God and talking to people about how He has changed their lives.
