Child Care Update: Christmas!

January 17, 2020

Our last Child Care Update for 2019! This Child Care Update includes Children’s Day in November, medical camps that were hosted in December, and the annual Star Fest Christmas celebration.

Thank you so much to all of our sponsors who have sponsored a child in 2019! None of this could have happened without you.

Children’s Day

Children’s Day is one of the best days of the year for kids. It is celebrated on November 14th, the anniversary of the birth of Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India. He was very fond of children, and he strongly believed that children are the future of the nation. He once said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.” Children’s Day is celebrated on his birthday because of his love and affection for children.

Children’s Day is celebrated every year in our Love One More children’s homes. The children partake in a drawing competition along with other activities. The three best drawn pictures were awarded with a prize in December. Children enjoyed these special competitions.

Medical Camps

Every quarter, India Gospel League, the parent ministry of Love One More, organizes medical camps for the children living in Love One More children’s homes. These medical camps help monitor each child’s health, and track their growth and development. It is very expensive to visit a doctor, so many children have never received medical help. Some children end up living with an illness for many days. These medical camps are an immense benefit to the children living in the children’s homes.

Star Fest

The annual Star Fest was held December 7th and 8th. Many children were brought together from different Love One More children’s homes. Seven hundred children participated in this special event. The theme of Star Fest 2019 was “The Lord Reigns” (Isaiah 9:7). Children were given an opportunity to exhibit their talents on a lovely stage which was set up exclusively for them to perform. The children presented dances, mimes, speeches, charades, and memory verse recitations. They also participated in drawing competitions and a Bible quiz. This year the Child Care staff sang a Christmas song and the children enjoyed it. It was amazing!

On Sunday, December 8th, the children took part in the worship service. Communion was served along with the service. God spoke through the pastor about the Christmas gift.

At the end of the celebration, after all the competitions were over, prizes were distributed to the winners. The children enjoyed these programs very much, and it was a great opportunity for them. Everyone praised God for it! It will surely be a memorable event for the children.

Praise for:

  • This exciting yet challenging year in ministry! We have experienced God’s faith, provision, and guidance. We praise Jesus and give God the glory for all that has been accomplished.

Pray for:

  • Children to remain safe and healthy in Love One More’s care, and that they can love their families when they visit.
